Todd combines his dedication to traditional building craftsmanship with a thoroughly modern approach to energy-efficient, sustainable building practices. Todd set up his own company after completing his building apprenticeship and working under experienced mentors for several years. His dad, grandad and two uncles are all builders, so you could say building is in his blood.
In 2016, Todd established T Dunn Builders to create high-quality custom homes, renovations and extensions across North Canterbury. Today, Todd combines his dedication to traditional building craftsmanship with a thoroughly modern approach to energy-efficient and sustainable building practices. He remains personally involved throughout each project, offering practical advice, clear communication and a straightforward building experience from the first conversation through to handover.
North Canterbury and beyond
While our roots are in North Canterbury, we’ve been fortunate to be entrusted with building, extension, and renovation projects throughout Canterbury and on the West Coast. With an established network of trusted tradespeople and suppliers, we can undertake projects across Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Woodend, Pegasus, Waikuku, Waimakariri, Hurunui, Christchurch, Akaroa, as well as locations such as Methven, Moana and Lake Brunner.

Canterbury Master Builders
What does it mean to work with an approved Master Builder for your building project?
To become a Master Builder, we’ve been through a strict vetting procedure and must provide you with fair and transparent building contracts. We believe it’s an essential endorsement. And because we’re Master Builders, you have the option to include the 10-Year Master Build Guarantee in your project.
Licensed Building Practitioners
As well as being qualified Master Builders, T Dunn Builders is also a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) in carpentry. LBP status is official government recognition that a tradesperson has the necessary practical skills, knowledge, and experience to carry out or supervise Restricted Building Work (RBW) on residential buildings. LBPs must follow a Code of Ethics and are overseen by the Building Practitioners Board.
To become an LBP, we have to prove our practical experience, provide peer references, and hold recognised industry qualifications. We must also complete regular skills maintenance courses and apply for annual re-licensing.
